It's been a long wait but Summer has arrived in Melbourne. Finally we now have blue skies, light breeze and dry heat! Hopefully three or four gorgeous months ahead now. And hopefully no fires!

It's only 2 months late  Don't think it'll reach 31 in the city and certainly not in bayside suburbs with a seabreeze likely, but out here at Berwick it should easily, it's on 28 now. Frankston ffreezing their buns off on 19C!!!! I'm gonna say 26-27C for the city today.

Not convinced about tomorrow, somehow I can't see 40C happenening, masses of cloud in the bight are already starting to reach Victoria and there is already talk of a (unforecasted) change moving thru tomorrow evening :(

Watch the Eucla and Nullabour area today.

Yeah, it sort of arrived here two weeks ago for 3 days and then last Saturday through to Thursday were warm - over 30 on Monday and Wednesday. Didn't help the skies though. Back to 26 today with about 80% cloud (despite what the satellite picture shows). Although Penrith reached 40 on Wednesday real heat isn't likely this close to the coast - it takes a pretty strong westerly to knock down the sea-breeze.

I see they are predicting 40ºc today in Melbourne.

Stay cool down there everyone.

Finally some clear sky today after that high cloud pandamonium last night, but there is talk of a crappy southerly seabreeze along with drizzle for tonight :mad2: I'm praying that it doesn't occur...

35C in Berwick atm. 3rd day this summer that feels like, well summer of years gone by.

Since Dec 1 at home we've had 41 days above 30C, 12 of those above 35C and one of those above 40C.
Not counting today and it is 34.2C now.

At least the sky is clear and I can see the tiny sliver that is the Moon.

trying to debate whether or not to go out tonight, seabreeze moving up the coast will disturb the airmass so poor seeing will result then there is some cloud to the south and west that may or may not reach here....

I need a freakin observatory!

40.8C at 15:47 today. Aunt, niece and SWMBO spent the afternoon in the pool. Now hiding inside with the A/C on. With a "cool" change it's down to 27C outside. The sky is clear but looks like there's too much dust do bother setting up.

The next week is supposed to hover around 40C.

Cool change through here - nothing but a drop in temperature of a good 12+ deg, I think. But now the clouds are drifting through.

didnt crack 40C yesterday, atleast it was still hot though. It seems the actual temp has been 3-4C below forecast every day

Stacks of cloud as I was taking the bins down last night, which miraculously cleared to reveal the worst star twinkling I have ever seen. Glad I didn't waste my time last night. Transparency was pretty crud aswell.

Maybe tonight will be better, without any seabreezes mixing up the airmass...

Interesting to see Geelong on a cool 23C with a gusty seabreeze while the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne are hitting 36C. Hopefully the northerly can kill the seabreeze in the coming hours.
