Hi All

Got in a good couple of hours viewing tonight but found that everything got covered in dew at about 11pm as things cooled down. I am overly concerned about the dew causing any damage but am hoping there might be some practical solutions to deal with this as all my eye pieces became foggy and brought the night to an end.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

Julien.

It's OK Julien.

Almost all Astro gear is designed with dew in mind and is usually not affected by it.
The manufacturers know Astro gear sits out in the wet at night.

If you use dew heaters to keep Refractor lenses dry, or fans for Reflectors, and Dew shields for SCT's and refractors, everything will be better proteced.

The only bit of kit worth being very cautious with is your eyepieces.
Best to keep them absolutely dry at all times.

But if your scope lens, mirror, or EP's get wet just hit them with a Hair Dryer or let them air dry overnight.

G'day Jules
Yep DEW happens a lot when humid air is cooled enough for water vapor to condense into water.
I use this system http://www.dew-not.com/dew-not-desc-01.htm
even on the eyepieces, works a treat
Ahhh! time 2 pack it in got heaps of work 2 do today
