Being inspired by the recent shots of the Rosette nebula , I thought I would give it a shot between the moon and intermittent clouds. I managed 19x5 min shots, stacked in DSS and prossesed in photoshop. I tried to keep it soft and subtle without oversharpening.
Comments welcomed.

How Pretty!!
Definitely not overcooked Allan. It looks just like it's namesake.

That looks better Allan. It's amazing what stacking more than one frame will do!

a) Peter, thats close to the bone and
b) Giving away my stupid secrets
and c) thats the last time I tell you my stuff-ups with DSS :mad2:
But you are correct there is far less noise and more information in a stack of 19x5 min shots than 1x5min shot

Nice shot Allan, was that with the QSI?
I tried imaging the Rosette in HA but the 20D is showing a lot of noise in this hotter weather even with 10min subs.

No it was shot with the QHY8. I'm going to use the QSI on the cone nebula and see what the 10" and f6.3 converter can do on it. I tried the qhy8 and 5" on iy bit it was too faint to impress me.

Always wanted to target this but M42 always seemed to take precedence in that area of the sky. Maybe we should blend all the shots together and have a real IIS pearler.
