Hi all

My new second hand scope has a helical focuser but it doesn't have screws to hold the EP in place it has these slots cut into it that will tighten up on the EP but only if you are applying presure on them while it is not a problem for the EP when I am using a Meade LPI you need to have it aligned properly. Any ideas how you are supposed to secure the EP in this type of focuser picture attached.

Thanks in advance

Hmmmm
This type is a PITA!
You could try a locking collar ring to apply some pressure to the "spring" joints....

I thought of that but there is not room for the focuser to go in if something is holding the pressure to the spring joints. Is PITA an acronym or a brand name or type

Thanks for replying

Right I should have known I think I will look at upgrading the focuser. Do you know if I can change the focuser from a 2.25 cm to a 3 cm focuser with out having to change the secondary mirror or will I have to get the same size focuser:question:

The secondary should be OK, the issue is finding a short/ low height version of a 1.25" to allow you to get to the focus point and obviously drilling and fitting the new focuser....
