Hi,

I was testing a couple of things and new software and thought I would try it out on this worse for wear Moth sitting just above my desk. It is such a perfect model nice and still.

I changed the lighting on the moth so the purple/magenta fringe might be more the fluro lighting.

What is more interesting was I found a software package that will take movie recording via live view on my 450D and was surprised by the result. I even used Registax to sharpen the image (which took a million years to do). The Registax image version is the really close up image not of the whole moth. Never thought to try for the whole thing.

As part of the test I determine that this recording software will supersede my previous Jupiter attempts as the frame rate on this is 22 FPS compared to 6FPS with APT.

My first attempt though was I think OK :D . Comments welcome. 2 Full size version different lighting angles.

Thanks all the the comments.

FYI, this is not a Macro shot, I was using the recently aquired 75-300mm Canon lense set to 300mm while the little beast was sitting on my ceiling. I use APT to take the photo because the view finder was sitting view screen on my table.

Not bad for a cheap lense. ISO 200 1/2sec F5.6.

Thanks Ron, I thought that too, noticed though it is quite battle scared, close up shows some stretching and the full image show a chunk taken out of it tail.

I have another movie of the head gonna check it out soon.

Nice Pic.

Just out of curiosity what was the recording software you used?

Was it EOS Camera Movie Record.

Thanks

Yep, the exact same one, fairly basic but found it to be very functional. I will be using it a lot once I get my new EQ platform up and running to get back to planetary stuff. I really miss planetary captures.

I found also that capturing via the live view at x5 after using Registax the clarity is far superior than capturing RAW and trying to sharpen it. My perfect Model is back on a wall this time, so I am going to try and record him/her again, full view this time.
