Hi Everyone
This was a bit of an experiment with M42. LXD55 SN10, MPCC, UHC-S Filter, Canon 300D
91x30sec at ISO1600 and 20x6sec at ISO200.
I'm not sure about the UHC-S filter with this target. I was hoping that it may make the h-Alpha easier to bring out, but It doesn't seem to help much,
Anyway, Comments welcome as usual.
Cheers
Very nice Itchy.
I really like the detail in the wisps of cloud you've captured. Pretty sharp across the field.
Background does look a bit grey on my lappy screen or is that just nebula all the way to the edge of the frame?
Is the original image a little wider? If so, can you crop it wider so there's a little dark sky to provide some contrast?
I've never deep sky imaged, just planets. I appreciate anyone who can get shots like this:)

Nice job Tony...whats with the short exposure times....was that part of your test not to overexpose the trap.???
Very nice detail for such short exposures.
I used the UHC-s for my Orion shot and thought it helped a lot in Brisbane.

Hi Matt,
Thanks. I had a lot of trouble with the background on this shot. There was quite a bit of residual amp glow that didn't want to go away so I eventually cropped it. Having said that, there are very deep shots of this region which do show lots of nebulosity, so you may be right.
cheers
