Gday all,

Lately I have been getting into Webcam photography. While im watching Jupiter Ive started to notice my scope's axis's are quite sticky. I can turn the slow motion then all of the sudden i hear a crack and i lose my target.

From what I read Synta (skywatcher, saxon etc) use very average grease. If i were to disassemble my mount and regrease what would you recommend using. I was thinking lithium or silicone grease.

Also my 3rd attempt at Jupiter, 1st was too fuzzy and pink, 2nd was good, 3rd is best so far. 6" Saxon, 2x barlow, SPC900NC (880 flashed), EEEPC 1005HA

Went to the local fishing shop and bought some Reel-lube for the expensive fishing reels that have gears: so far has worked wonders but had to get the crappy chinese lube off first

"lube" the inner child in me giggles

I shall look out for the reel lube, fish shops are all around me, i glanced over the guild it looked pretty straight forward to do.

I have a Orion Skyview Pro (same as EQ5) which had the ring gear almost seized onto the shaft - I had to heat it in an oven to remove the ring gear. Bintel recommended the Supa-lube that Paul suggests and the mount is perfect after regreasing.

Another vote for Superlube.........I have used it for the last four years in different applications, with excellent results.:)
