Hi there
I've connected by Canon 450D to my Tasco Luminova (hmm, hope that doesn't disqualify me straight away!) and am trying to take photos of the moon. All the connections seem to be right, but I can't bring the image in to focus. I think this is either because I haven't done something right with the camera, or because the telescope itself won't give me enough focus. Any advice?
Cheers
Joe

Welcome to IIS Joe :)
My first question would be: Did you take the diagonal out of the scope?
When using a refractor for visual, you need the diagonal and when you use it for photography you dont use the diagonal.
Hope this helps.

Hi Martin
thanks for the reply and for the welcome! Do you mean the diagonal mirror inside the telescope that sends the image out to the eyepiece at a right angle? Or do you mean some sort of diagonal attachment on the outside of the telescope that inverts the image again? There isn't one of the latter. If the former - why does that help with the focus?
Thanks again for taking the time.
Cheers

Looks like you have an reflector telescope and this means that you cant get enough infocus.
The only way to get into focus will be by moving the primary mirror up the tube (maybe 2 cm).
Most standard reflectors are made for visual use and not for photographic use.

Thanks Martin - from something I read on this site, I thought that might be the case. Cheers
