Hi,

I'd just like to mention that I went to the ASSA's public viewing night at the heights highschool in adelaide last night, and had a blast.

it was my first time putting my eye to a number of different scopes, including a proper observatory scope.

It was also great to meet a bunch of long time amateurs, and new starters as well.

Looking at M42 through a proper 10 " dob was an absolute treat. 47 Tus was also an eye opener.

I'd like to thank the ASSA for putting on the event. best $4 I ever spent. To those who went as well, it was great to meet you.

Hope to see y'all at stockport next month. :D

Well done Adam. Best thing anyone can do before leaping into the money pit is get along to viewing nights to see a few scopes and get an idea of what they would like to buy. I refer to the comment I made in your other thread about what sort of scope to buy and I would guess most of the scopes there were dobs? Anyway glad you have enjoyed your first experience and will continue down the track!

True. A few dobs. I'm hoping to see a few refractors at stockport for comparison.

Adam
Just remember, good refractors are expensive, cheap ones are just that that. Reflectors, especially dobs are easy to make to a high standard, thats why they are value for money!
