We are pretty safe where we live in Brisbane, and we are trying not to hinder the emergency workers and such. Last night we went out to see a spot near where we live so that we have some record of this event, and the show the kids what can happen. This is a skate park on Muriel Ave near Ipswich Rd at Rocklea, heading toward Sherwood Rd.

The night scene (1) was taken before the peak, and the day (2) well after. In the day scene you can see the skate park reemerging from the waters. (3 - 5) are some shots of a couple of guys who were trying to get across the railway to Fairfield Rd and onto the Rocklea Markets. The Bridge is 3.8 metres above the road but the water was up to the bridge. The last shot is past the Moorooka railyards and you can see the tide mark on the building. Good thing that the peak was 1 metre lower than predicted.

Thanks for the images, Tony. It's good that you show the children and also reassure them. Show them all the good neighbourly stories that are arising.

We went out and had a look at Hall Street in Sherwood today as my Mum and Grandma use to live there and they were fully submerged in the '74 floods. It was about a metre shy of engulfing the whole house and the lower parts of the school and the oval were submerged. Went to Nosworthy Park too and you could just see the the Brisbane Markets sign above the water in Rocklea...it's absolutely insane. Jindalee is so bad as well and we just got into Oxley yesterday near Kendall Street to check on some friends, the view from Oxley roundabout was so shocking. Harvey Norman is completely under, everything is so unrecognisable. I hope everyone on IIS who has been affected by the flooding is safe, much love to you all and if you need any help please shout out.

Hi all

What a surreal event to witness from a suburb isolated from nearly all effects.

No worries,

Anne-Louise posted the last two lots of pics, just used my login.

The first couple were with the 10-22mm Chris, but I must point out that it is Anne-Louises' lens :).
