Modified Toucams, expression of interest

I currently have 3 flashed 900C toucams which I am modifying for long exposure. Thusfar I have probably modified over 60 of these cams. I also have the 1.25" adapters included. Price about $190.00+freight, which is substantially cheaper than that being offered on the web for these cams. Two cameras now available, one has sale pending, the third will be finished next week.

Geoff, the camera in its native form will not do long enough exposures. I am not sure what software people use for this, others can fill you in on that, but the long exposure mod does work very well.

Geoff...K3CCD Tools, wxAstroCapture, Craterlet...any number of apps for webcams are available. All do long exposures.

Can these also be used for showing family/ friends what's being viewed, ie live video?

Yes they can, but you need a capture program. K3CCD tools is an example of this. Even the software that comes with the cams can show this, I think it is called video lounge or similar. I am referring to planets in this instance. For long exposure of DSO you need to stack and process the images for viewing.

For those that may be wondering about these cams and Windows 7, here is a place to download all the drivers for the 900C cameras. The Link wont open here, but go to Morgan computers in the UK and click on astronomy, then select the SPC880 webcam/more info and finally go down the page and you will see a link to download the phillips 900C drivers. There are drivers for pretty well all the Windows operating systems including Win 7

I now only have one of these left. I originally ordered 6 as some people promised they wanted cameras and did not come through, so once this one is gone, I wont be ordering any more unless I get a small deposit. Dont like doing this, but I really dont like being left holding excess stuff when it was ordered in good faith based on people's requests, and they re-nigged for the want of a better description.

I have just placed an order for 4 more webcams from the UK, so if anyone is interested in one, please let me know. As I have been let down in the past by people wanting them and not coming up with the goods, I must now ask for a deposit of 25%, this is to ensure I dont get left holding the bag as it were.:)
