G'day, I have been offered a Celestron Ultima 2000 8" at a pretty good price, it comes with wedge. I know that these scopes are at least 10 years old, so I tried to research it, but have pretty well hit a brick wall. I want to use this for Astrophotography (planets, deep space etc), can anyone give me more information on this scope, can they be upgraded, are they any good, or am I better off saving a bit more and get a newer version of a Celestron scope.
Any help is muchly appreciated.

PS I introduced myself in the beginners start here for those of you wondering where I popped in from. Hi

Hi Dutch, I have an Ultima 8" 1990's vintage:D
I don't know if there is much difference between the two, probably electronics if anything:shrug:
If you want to do Astro imaging an EQ mount would be preferable to the fork mount.
The scope itself is a very good scope:), I am very happy with mine
Cheers
