I was a regular in Cairns from1970 to 1984. I went fishing a few times on the reef. The fish were all 25lb ers. I can't fish anywhere else now where they consider 2lb a nice fish.

Nice.... ah, crabby thingo Warren.\
Living in FNQ at the moment means to me ... empty shelves!! We wont starve of coursel but shelves are kinda empty, depending what youare looking for.
today n Townsville - 90% empty meat - yep, very empty, fruit n veg 60% empty ...on and on .................... ..hardly any any soft drink.
will eaze of course, and nothing major.

:)Hi All,:)
I had 5 yrs in Townsville. '77 to '81. Jan81 it started raining 5 mins before midnight. It rained continuously until 22 Jan. The sun appeared for 47mins one day. The rain actually stopped for 11 hrs in that time.
Roads were cut. Roads were chopped up. Some roads had no bitumen for hundreds of metres.
Apart from that I enjoyed Nth Qld. I grew up fishing in SA. My personal best fish was 4.25 lbs. After a month in Qld my first fish weighed 30 lbs.
Fish of 4 lbs were common.
Magnetic island had an unending supply of oysters. During the wet, plenty of prawns off the local beaches.
I pulled in 30lbs of prawns in one afternoon. Mud crabs were so easy to come by. A Saturday mornings effort would reap 30-40 big bucks.
Maybe oneday I will return to live in FNQ.
Cheers
Come on Warren how old is that photo? Mate your not shopping at the right shop, you can get plenty of TP from the local rag that's all it's good for anyway hey...:D
Good weather today many boats at ramps.

I spent a year up at Cape Tribulation, giving back packers tours on horse back, then another couple of years in Cairns.
Gotta love those Mangrove Jack.
But the rain..........

Hmm this is about as far north as i ever want to live. That said i spent a few years living in the gulf. I would have called Mackay central Qld ;). Give somewhere nice and cold any day.

Queensland is the only state I've never either lived in or visited for a holiday.
Business trips to Brisbane don't count.
I did spend part of my childhood in the Kimberleys so remember what tropical weather can be like.
The more I hear, the better Tasmania sounds :)
