I'm not jumping on the band wagon here. This link has appeared on IIS since 2005 - and here it is again. No doubt many have been there already. But I do hope it doesn't get lost in the mass of threads.

I found the article by Samir Kharusi on sub-exposure calculations extremely helpful. Working my way through it day-by-day.

Ta, excellent site.
Worth bumping up now and then for us newbies.
Lots of good stuff there.

I'll do my best to remember - wonder if it could be a sticky?

I stuck it in my 'Favourites' for future reference.
Is it worth adding to the Links page ? Doesn't really need a thread to make it available.

Links page would be fine, I guess. Definitely one for the favourites.

Gawd, that sounds like a complicated hobby.
I better go back to knitting....:P

(seriously thanks for the link - haven't been there for ages and time to find something new to understand....)

Here it is again.

There are links to some useful info on filters (http://www.samirkharusi.net/filters.html) at the bottom of Samir's article on sub exposure times. It may be a little outdated since the CLS-CCD filter, but still very useful.

It is also worth looking at this (http://www.ayton.id.au/gary/Science/Astronomy/Ast_light_pollution.htm) - light pollution assessment - particularly the table down the page a bit.
