I am brand new to IceInSpace, and think this is a GREAT site! I'm from Oklahoma, USA and browse through Cloudy Nights on occasion, but really felt that you all had a lot of friendly advice and experience to offer as well. So here is my first question.....

I know the NexImage isn't the top of the line camera, but it will have to do until I can move up the food chain. :) I noticed that if I set my camera for 30fps, I have very little noise. But if I bump that down to 15,20 or 25 fps I start seeing more noise as I go lower in frame rate. Is this normal for this type of camera, or could I possibly be doing something wrong?

Thanks!

Good question Art, one I'd be interested in the answer to as well! I've had a NexImage for years and have ignored advice to lower frame rate because the whole frame disappears in a welter of strangely-coloured noise when you do. 25fps is about the lower limit. Often wondered why, capture program, setting, cam/chip limitations, defect, what??

Welcome to IIS too!

Cheers -

Rob,

Well, I imagine that it probably is not a defect since you are having the exact same problem. Although, a defect is not totally out of the question, it is more unlikely. I guess that I will just keep it at 30fps and save for a better camera. :D

Thanks for the confirmation Rob! Now, when the wife asks why I need a better camera so soon, I can say, "but Rob from IIS said....."

Thanks!
