Really, I feel quite ill, that's sick, a grown man who swears that he'll never touch a soldering iron stooping that low.....

Congratulations Mr Ponders nice mount, there could well be more dry joints, you had better be safe send it down to me for a professional repair.

The reply.

Sheez, hubby doesn't show me that much affection even :lol:.
And I'm wondering with all the rain and floods up there, did that thing get airlifted to you or something :lol:.
Oh, and by the way, Ron isn't jealous, he's strictly visual, aren't you Ron?! Still with us Ron...? Stay focused I say Ron! :eyepop:
Congratulations and enjoy Paul

Sure its portable - small crane and a flatbed truck and the obs will go anywhere!

You can get a portable pier from AP for the 900 and 1200 mounts. There is even a third party pier for the 3600 (`el Capitan), but AP don't suggest that it be used primarily as a portable mount.

Sure thing Phil, I'll pack it up straight away and send it down. Will you need the Losmandy tripod to put it on? I don't have an EQ6 adapter for it I'm afraid. :(

Thanks Suzy. It did take some polishing to get the sticky finger marks out. :D
At this stage its strictly a stay at home mount. I could bring it to AF, but it would only be for worship purposes. Its great the way the mount breaks down into the RA and the Dec assembly so it is portable. But not really a grab and go mount. :P

Thanks Roger and Terry. I'm really looking forward to some clear skies now.

Actually you are right. Cut off the 9 posts and the whole thing will lift up and onto a truck and away to my next dark site. The only thing that would be left behind is the concrete pier. Designed that way.;)

I'll probably look into that one day, but I'd likely settle for a new collapsible G11 tripod (once my finances come off life support ) seeing as I've sold my existing tripod.

Well Dave I was able to resist when Mike posted that original thread, but when he posted the link to it again my steely will crumbled.
