Tortured Tarantula

I have wrestled with this shot of the tarantula that i took to end the year off,this neb has always been a hard one for me to process its such a tangled web of nebulosity,anyway here is my shot,taken with cooled 40d 20x10min shots iso800 cls filter processed in pixinsight resized in photoshop.

Very nice Alan! Lots of detail there.

If I'm nitpicking, a tiny bit green in the nebula's core. If I'm not mistaken, that's an easy fix with PixInsight's Subtractive Chromatic Noise Reduction (SCNR) tool though, but, really, it's nothing to worry about! :thumbsup:

Very nice image Alan. The tarantula area is so busy it makes for quite a dificult target to capture but you have done it quite well.

A very nice shot. The LMC area does tend to have a bit of green in it for some reason. I tend to push that down a tad as green does not usually present well in astroimages as objects are rarely greenish. But I don't see it as an error. Perhaps there is a specific reason why the LMC has a greenish tinge. One reason may be its the closest largish galaxy to us
or perhaps the angle we view it through extincts a bit of the blue?

I guess I stand corrected then. I never thought a DSLR without any narrowband filter shenanigans could detect that much 'real' green! :eyepop:
Is there anything else besides OIII that's green?

One thing I do to check if it's just the object or me, is to run my image through The GIMPs RGB Max filter (is there an equivalent in PS?). It shows you which color channel is dominant. If even most empty space is green, I usually turn my green down a notch.

Anyhow, I'm starting to realize that lately, I've been turning threads about gorgeous images into technical processing ramblings (shows you what's on my mind :screwy:), so I'll shut up now!

Thanks Greg,Scott,Mike,Doug,the area seemed to push up in the green side more and i did tone it down abit could use a bit more but i rather liked the effect,sometimes i wonder whats the real thing
