What's wrong with this Pic?

I took this photo this afternoon of the Kilcoy Bridge in flood again. :mad2:
The irresponsibility of this parent is extraordinary. If the waves from the truck bumped her into that raging torrent, what do you think his chances are of saving her? How many peoples lives would have been put at risk because of this????
I'm angry, very very angry.

teenagers and adults I've seen today are a real worry though with flooded creeks !!

I'm being silly now...the clouds have rolled in again. Anyway we used to see things like this when I lived in Katherine...rain...a small flood...then a major torrent within minutes.

for a bit more info on the image. The little girl is crouching on a culvert that is right on the edge of 2-3 meters depth of rushing water. The truck is heading over the Bridge into Kilcoy and the water behind the little girl is 400mm (16") deep. If she slipped in there would be no way the person (father?) standing there would reach her in time.

I say father....... for the pure fact that a mother would have said to the girl by now to "get up and come back here!!!!!!"

Where as the father is standing there with hands in pockets looking at what is in the truck/what the truck is.

My mother would have cracked it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might be a little off the flooding topic, but I'm continually shocked by the way parents/carers push strollers (with kids in them), straight into intersections carrying traffic.

Perhaps its just because people park so close to the intersections that you can't see the oncoming traffic, which tempts the carer/parent to move from the footpath into the intersection. But gee, that puts the child at huge risk as the stroller is closest to the oncoming vehicles !!

This one makes me angry every time I encounter it … seemingly, nearly every day of the week !

Also if you look a bit lower than center of the pic there are a few 'waves' rolling through. Suggesting that a vehicle of some sort has passed or thats the way the current is going

I don't think we realise from the pic just how bad this situation was/is.
Maybe could you take a pic of a similar framing when the creek goes down a bit?

So many deaths this holiday season I have heard on the radio/ tv sounded
like just simple foolish judgements of error. Especially tragic when
it so often involves a youngster.:rolleyes::sadeyes:

You can see in front of the girl, the debris wedged up against the bridge.

Funny, I only have pictures of the bridge when it's under water. LOL It's pretty boring any other way.
The water has gone down now, I'll take another pic when I go to town later today.

Ok, took these pics a short while ago.
Taken from around about where the little girl was.
She was about 3 or 4 meters from the edge, but the creek had broken over the bank, and the debris, well look at it, big enough to knock an adult over.
Small children and flooded creeks, not a good combination.

When we were attending the Queanbeyan flood a few weeks ago I was also amazed at the amount of parents letting their children paddle at the waters edge. With a measured flow rate of 6m per second it would only take one slip and their child would be gone.

What was more amazing was the dirty looks from the parents when we tell the kids to get back. Some people just don't get it.
