I am wondering how much each size in the Dob's weigh 8, 10 &12". I have read both Dob reviews and also Brian Nolans article "What's wrong with each of my scope". Which by the way they were all fantastic, thank you. In Brian's article he says QUOTE " but whereas most people can carry an 8 inch dob, no one I know can carry a 10 incher." Do I take this literally? Will I be able to carry a 10" on my own? I am seriously considering buying a 10" but have not seen a spec on the weight.
Should this is mentioned many times already on this forum and I have missed I apologise in advance. :prey2:
Paul p.s If I show up to Astro Camp with my shiny new Dob and no idea how to use it will someone please help me?:help3:

G,day Paul,
I have never weighed my 250mm Dob but I don't have any trouble carrying it.

I have a 10 inch dob. I used to carry it in 2 parts to where I was observing without any trouble, and I'm a girl :P .
It was a hassle though if I wanted to move it around to different places so I got a cart to put it on.

Ditto mickoking. Though, I've got some simple wheels attched to the side of mine. You still have to lift it over ledges and stuff, but it makes it much easier.
I think the main problem isn't weight, but that its quite awkard to carry (if you carry the tube and base attched to each other). There isn't really anywhere to hold so you have to sorta grabe the base and support the tube. Its a lot easier if you detatch the base from the tube each time you carry it outside (or where ever) but it get annoying doing it heaps.

If you get or make a bag for the OTA it is easy to carry both at once !

I don't even think my 12" is heavy. But if it was still on the base would be a bit awkward!

Thank you all for your replies. There is some useful info there. I checked out the website link provided in the first reply and It seems the 10" weighs just under 28Kg including the base. That's not bad at all.
my 8" isnt too heavy, but its awkward at times :)
