Hi All,

Imaged Saturn this morning, the storm is very extended and there appears to be at least 3, possibly more, distinct white spots within it.
I am wondering about the relationship between the extended tail and white spots within the main structure of the storm and how their drift relates to any drift of the radio source's detected by RPWS. As the SED's related material punch's through the upper cloud layer and mushrooms it would seem that possibly a local jetstream could be responsible for this streaming tail that is developing.

Thanks for looking

Regards
Trevor

Great shot Trevor. Maybe Saturn want's a real belt of it's own?

Nice shots Trevor.
Would this be one storm leaving a trail behind or is it likely to be multiple smaller storms starting up?

Thanks Houghy.

Thanks Bird, having a good run with Jup but as yet just cannot snag a window of good seeing for Saturn.

Thanks John, yes, and just in time for Christmas.

Thanks Rob, it certainly would make a change.

Thanks Giuseppe.

Thanks Michaell, this storm originated at great depth but as it burst through the upper cloud layer of ammonium ice crystals it mushroomed over the top. probably this tail is due to a local upper jetstream. The latest news form the Cassini RPWS is that they have detected at least one other distinct storm. Watch this space as either Bird or I will be imaging at every opportunity.

Thanks Luis

Interesting formation, I wonder just how long it will last, and the cause of it, Jupiter with it's spots disappearing and reappearing, now this, all as the new magnetic sun cycle unfolds. There's a connection somewhere there.
