Hi,

Well it has finally happened in SE Queensland. Fine Weather.

Taken through W/O Flt 110 and using a QHY-9 at -20c. This is 6 x 15 Min Ha 7nm guided with PHD and processed to death (I think I need to redo this in the morning) with CS4.

Comments welcome.

Nice effort, I though maybe you'd get more data with that sub routine.
How many darks did you use?

I do not have 15 min darks so against all logical thinking Ichucked in 10 min darks as well as 20 min darks (14 of each).

Had another crack at this. Any advice welcome in the processing area.

The 110 frames it nicely, re the processing, the first has been over sharpened the dark halos around the stars are a giveaway. I see it has been rectified in the second one, but this has been clipped at the black end, check the histogram frequently as you process. Note you can cheat and blend it with an earlier lighter one this will stop the clip but load it to the dark end to give you the contrast to some degree.

I'm only looking at it in an iPad so am limited to comment much further.

The second image is much better Mark.
Wasn't it awesome to be able to get out there under the stars ( and moon dammit)
Have you defrosted yet? Can't believe how cold it got.

I was freezing but it was a great night. Adam and I are heading to the lookout on the way up to maleny to try to image the eclipse so here's hoping. Have another good night tonight.

You two have a great time. I reckon we'll be in for a real treat tonight.

Not bad Mark all you need is more subs from my own meager attempts at Ha the longer the subs abd the more data you have the better

Agree with JJJ, the second looks better on my screen. Always use the longer darks when calibrating as they are more effective. Richard Berry and friends suggest the darks should be 5 X longer then the subs on a cooled camera and I have been playing with this to great effect.

As marki mentioned; I always use the 5x rule now also. I have a library of 25-1x1, 25-2x2 darks, bias. nom, nom.
Best thing with TEC regulation is you can run a dark library :)
Leave it on for the whole day and take darks each of binned and 1x1 mode.
Reason I asked earlier was that the data seemed too noisy in that stack.

Just be careful if using the new MaxDL with new QHY drivers; the temp has to be the same for exposures and calibration frames, otherwise MaxDL gets upset.
