Just wondering, with those nice new iPads and that great astro program that shows you the sky (even through the cloud)...
will they portray the moon in eclipse tomorrow!

GoSkywatchP doesn't!
StarryNight on PC does.

The observatory time clock by emerald sequoia does. It has a little window to the top right that shows the phase during the eclipse. The others I have don't although I have not updated the sky voyager to it's new version as it's a huge download.

Looking at Stellarium, when the Moon is about 1-2 degrees above the horizon, the eclipse will be more than half over.

But still should be a lovely sight.

Any idea how the eclispe simulator works? Its a sun on one side and the moon on the other and a red arrow inbetween. Even with my glasses on it's not clear what it is supposed to represent.

Note that SkySafari and Starmap Pro provide no indication of the event either.

Cheers

For the iPad/iPhone: "MoonPhase" - RomanDuck Software (Zdenek Becka)

The Sequoia simulator is great as well.

Dj , set the time to when the eclipse is on and the moon will be represented in the centre with it's coverage. The time set is top centre, just use the right hand side hour set and forward the time
