Well I should have known better than try to switch from Optus to Telstra. Telstras coverage is better but at least with Optus I can connect.......

Last thursday I bought a Telstra iPad microSimm and had it supposedly activate in store (Telstra Shop in Canberra Centre). 6 hrs later - still not working so called the 'help' line. First Indian girl couldn't help me. She stuck rigidly to her script, couldn't understand what I was trying to say and that was it - no help. Second call went to Tech Support instead. He got me connected - finally.

This morning, the Simm's been deactivated (or my account - I know this because I can navigate to all the "free" telstra pages via the iPad but not my prepaid account or anywhere else). So another call to the 'help' desk only to be told by the indian girl that their system was down so call back later!

Is Telstra a joke or what?!

Please do not think I have anything against indians - 1/2 my IT team at work are indians and they are great - it's just that Telstra seems to have employed a company who employ people who have absolutely no idea about anything other than read and follow a script.

Cheers

I know the feeling!
I recently rang Telstra to get some features turned off on my landline (caller ID, message bank) as I hardly use the line. Also I was being charged a few $$ every month for a handset I've never even seen.
After three trips through the voice response system (which apparently doesn't understand English), I finally got a real person who on learning what I wanted to do, said she'd transfer me to the right department. In the this case, the right department was the voice response system :mad2:
I ended up just sending in a complaint via email stating what I wanted. It worked.

I had the same problem with my sim, the solution, Telstra had forgotten to tell me that I needed to add telstra.iph in the Cellular data APN setting.

I have to buy top ups from a local outlet though, Telstra reckons my credit card is invalid, apparently it's a common complaint....

Well after 5 days and 5 calls I finally got someone who went off script and investigated.... Turns out that my iPad microSimm was provisioned to the wrong type of mobile service. Well the provisioning was done at the local teltra shop. I did an internet search for this specific problem and there are hundreds of posts from people who have had this same issue with Telstra over the past few months.

I wonder what that says about training and competancy in Telstra?
