Three galaxies from old data

Hi all,

Well after three weeks of computer troubles followed by 1.5 weeks of home-bound illness and now a few days of cloud I'm lamenting the loss of photons. And browsing the forum lots lately the DSO area seems to be missng the small galaxies genre :P.

So, sitting in my obs this arvo I turned to my right and picked three galaxies that looked nice from the wall of 200 odd pics, and thought I'd re-process them to see what I can get from the limited data.

Nothing extraordinary but some galaxy pics none the less, something to inspire me to find more gaps between the clouds, and fun to play with the processing.

Each is just 10 x 30 seconds.

Not much more than a sum combine, levels/curves, healthy dose of noise-ninja, unsharp mask.

This is very cool Roger. A few decades ago this was stuff of the Hale 200" now we amateurs can dial up a galaxy on our laptop computer GOTO it then whip off an image in a matter of minutes and have a knotted spiral galaxy appear on our screens. We can then print it off as a full gloss print and paste it onto our observatory wall before you can say "by Celestron or by LX200"...good times we live in Roger :thumbsup:

Very nice Roger, I have to agree with Mike. A few years ago these would have been unseen images so we are very lucky to be in this digital age.

I agree with all the previous comments. Not long ago professionals using film would have been delighted to pore over the information contained within these images. 10x30secs each...wow! That is impressive.
