Hi All,

Well, the time has come to sell R2D2. I really havent had much time outside in the last 8 months and when I do I take the new 8" on the HEQ5 Pro for some AP time, so its better for me to sell the Dob to a good home, otherwise he will just gather dust in my office.

Getting this scope ready to observe is a doddle, average time is 3 mins.
Slide the secondary cage up on the struts, lock the screws, check the collimation and you're done! Not 10-15 mins like truss dobs take!

Comes with the standard Plossl's - 10mm and 25mm (with the 1500mm focal length they give 150X and 60x)

Specs:

WHITE (not the Black Diamond paint job)
Diameter of mirror 305mm or 12 inches.
FL = 1500mm
Height when collapsed = approx 1000mm (1m)
Weight combined = approx 40kg
2" and 1.25" focuser adaptor (1:1 crayford with focus lock)
8 x 50 finderscope
Eyepiece Rack
Kendrick Bahtinov focusing mask included - (worth $49)
Secondary Mirror Leather cover (from some of my headphones) included
Tension control handles on altitude bearing.

Mirrors are pristine, apart from a little dust, never been removed for cleaning. Holds collimation well, even after multiple set ups.
A few minor scratches on the tube and one cosmetic dent from a recoiling ocky strap, does not affect performance and could probably polish out easily.

I have made up an altitude and azimuth scale (former is laminated, latter from cardboard, which is now a little squished) in order to use these to locate objects.

Price when new $1499, price from Andrews now, $1199 :(

My sell price is $900 firm, prefer a Sydney buyer, I can arrange to drop it off or if you prefer, pick it up from Kellyville Ridge. I no longer have the boxes (only the foam surrounds for the tube) so posting/courier is out of the question.

GREAT scope for pulling in the faint fuzzies and extra resolution on the planets. I never really got the webcam cranked up for some Bird and Quark like shots, but the nudge nudge with the dob gave me a few nice Saturn and Jupiter shots. I have added these to the post.

PM me for questions or if you want to buy this beast. Please note, the price, as I said before, is FIRM at $900. Cash or Bank Transfer before pick up or delivery.

Cheers

Chris

Few questions about the mirror/optics have been asked....

As mentioned, the mirrors are perfectly fine, albeit slightly dusty primary mirror as I have not had the primary mirror cell out of the tube since it was installed and it hasnt been cleaned, not necessary at this time.

Still for sale,

Cheers
