Jupiter SEB Dec12,13 - content not quality

was in two minds about posting these, since the seeing was poor to atrocious and I still haven't got my new RGB filters - but they do show that the SEB disturbance had not encircled Jupiter as of the 12th (leftmost image). The easterly part of the disturbance extended right across the visible side of the planet on the 13th - see Trevor's beaut image for a much better view - but it petered out in the vicinity of the GRS on the image from the 12th. The westerly end had also not made it much past the limb in this view. Really hope one of the big guns can get some hires images of the later phases of the event before the planet drops too low.

Number one is quite good Ray, nice and sharp, even with the crapola seeing.

Always nice to see a quality pic of Jup. Sometimes its daunting to want to post an image of a planet, with the Grand Master Jedi's of the Force hovering around....

I applaud your efforts, they are well worth a look.

Good images for bad conditions Ray

Hi Chris, thanks for your kind comments. The Grand Master Jedi's that hover around this forum have been very encouraging and helpful. But knowing what they can do does make one think twice before posting images of Jupiter that look as though it has been worked over a bit by the death star.

Good work there Ray, as far as atmospheric events go on Jupiter this SEB revival certainly rates very highly with planetary scientists around the world and all images, regardless of the quality of the seeing, are very important in creating a record of this event as it continues to develop.

A good point to remember, regarding image quality in crook seeing, is that no imager on this planet can create good images from crap data, seeing really is king.

Never hesitate to post your images.
