These re-ionisation maps would help us to understand the large-scale distribution and morphologies of galaxy clusters, filamentary structures etc.

What a tremendous step forward it would be to be able to accomplish this.

I was unaware, (until now), that such 'mud-maps' could not be constructed.

It really is reminiscent of the days before Cook's voyages where global maps had big chunks missing ..

Fascinating.
