Impressive first go Paul!
Only 16min data and you can see plenty of detail!

Well Paul, a nice start there

What Astrograph is that exactly? an 8" F4 is a very versitile unit indeed, how have you found collimating and general usage? I'm expecting an Orion Optics AG12 any week/month now.

Thanks Garyh, I was surprised about the Detail but a dark sky site can make all the difference.

Mike I am using the Bintel astrograph. I did abit of research and almost all of the 8 " fast newts came from the same factory. Yes I collimate the scope very time I use it. I only need to adjust the collimation 50% of the time. Good luck with the AG12.

That is pretty good for only 30 second exposures! I tried similar with my Pentax K200D earlier this year and it was a failure. It looks like the k-x performs a lot better.

Not bad for a first go I'd be happy with that

"30 second unguided exposures", I think it's come up a treat!

Hi again,

Well done!

The Pentax is not modified, I must say I am rather impressed with the longer wavelength colours it is able to pickup.

Thanks Darren I am able to do longer exposures up to 2 minutes unguided but more time getting good polar alignment is a must.

Well Trevor I intend to return to the LMDSS next month or so, and I will try longer subs and see how they compare.

Rob the K-x performs rather well, for a first off DSLR I am so happy with it. Pentax has released a K-r so it would be interesting to see what improvements has occured.

Thank you everyone for your comments. Paul :)

Great start on a dificult target Paul. Once you get some guiding working and some longer subs you will astound yourself at what you manage.

Well done.
