Hi all,

I have been using Photoshop to get some different "viewpoints" of the Moon from a single photo, showing features from observing angles not possible from Earth.

Attached is the original shot, and the other images are different perspectives of that photo after being projected onto a 3D sphere using Photoshop 7's 3D transform function.

I have tried to crop the images to avoid very obvious pixel stretching for features on the lunar limb.

There is the LTVT tool available online to do a better job, but this way is a little quicker and dirtier!

Hi niko,

I used a Canon EOS 550D at prime focus through a 12" f/5 dob, single photo. However, any shot of the moon should work. It was low on the horizion, rising and I could only get the one shot due cloud.
Cheers,

Tom

Here's a series from last night's just-after-first-quarter Moon. The original photo is first.

Cheers,

Tom

Last night's Full Moon.

Perspective 1 is a view with Grimaldi to the right, Aristarchus at the bottom right.

Perspective 2 is from "overhead" Mare Ibrium
