View Full Version here: : M42 - yet another cloudy night reworking
Taking advantage of another cloudy night in Melbourne to play around with Photoshop and try to improve the orion nebula I took at Snake Valley and get a bit more core detail.
Combination of a 5 sec exposure and 180 sec exposure.
Maybe I've gone a bit far with the colours but it's all part of the learning curve.
Many thanks to the SV crew and also atalas' tutorials.
Comments very welcome
cheers

Much improved - excellent - dramatic colouring - I get green in mine!
Number two gets my vote Niko
The trap is visible and still plenty of nebulosity.
thanks everyone - photoshop is a truly amazing application.
with more clouds tonght looks like I'll be able to play around even more!!
damn huey - enough with the rain already! :(

Good job in revealing the core area better Niko, nice use of that bit of the learning curve .
Now as a suggestion try blening the first version back into the second version, I'd say about oooh 30%..? See what it looks like. :)
Mike
thanks Mike - good constructive advice - will give it a go
and the clouds just keep on rolling in :(
unlike many I don't have much data to rework but I did take Mike's suggestion and add back in the previous image at about 30%
Whaddya reckon?

Great work all round there Niko! As you know, a tricky target to get right without blowing out the core and I think you have done a top job on it.
I like the colours too.
Cheers Daniel.
Thanks Daniel
Have a great Christmas mate :)
