Hi guys, morning!

This thread posted is just I want to get your help.

The reason is a friend who works in a local observatory in his place, China. These days, he receives a task from a well-known astronomical magazine, it requires he can write a report to guide mainly high-level amateur astronomers 's observing of Double Stars. Now, we are using two PDF document as data:<The Cambridge Double Stars Atlas 2009> and <Double Stars for small telescopes>.

Then, he wished I can list all of Double Stars on MS-Excel which based on constellations, he hopes he can introduce them in each relevant constellation than generally introduced by a sequence of Right Ascension

I, personally, wish you guys can tell me more effective and excellent skills to fiding, observing, even some hints about Double Stars watching and recording, then we can collcet and edit data in detail.

Finally, all of your experiences and skills will be as the reference of amateurs observing in his report, we are saying Cheers to all of you guys!

Regards!
Elliott

Pat,

I have the The Cambridge Double Star Atlas. I bought it from BINTEL last year for $99. Double Stars for Small Telescopes is available from them for $59.
You might find this site of use ...

Hi,

Agree, the Eagle Creek data is great. I have made an Excel spreadsheet out of it for the Southern Hemisphere, but we should get copyright release before putting that up here, just out of courtesy to a peer.

I have asked for that, so we shall see.

Cheers

Hi pat, actually I have not any observing of double and multiple stars, usually, I use eyes and binocular to watch obvious nebulaes and single objects. This time, my friend asks me to list all of double stars under constellations from A - Z by using excel, he only gave me those two PDF documents. Personally, I hope I can do it more perfect, that's I also can cite possible hints to find them easily. Additionally, I, personally, have a southern- constellations and binocular objects list.

Hi,

At the bottom of this website

http://www.geocities.jp/toshimi_taki/atlas_dbl_star/dbl_star_atlas.htm

there are 2 Excel spreadsheets of double stars by constellation. One has sort keys on each column, the other has accompanying sky charts.

They look better for the Northern Hemisphere.

Cheers
