Dear Santa,

As a 15 year old boy, I longingly lusted over these (see pic below). Any chance this Christmas?

I'm not fussy. Either one of the "man made" type.

I won't tell the missus if you won't, ;)  :juggle: !

Dear Santa,

I've been good. (You know that, of course!)

So please, please, please can I have blue skies for Christmas? If that's too much to ask - I'm assuming most astronomers in Australia are pestering you for that - then can I please have the Courtney Cox look-alike in the ad?

Remember, I've been good...

Mario

PS Would you like me to leave you some XXXX this year or a Pure Blonde? Will Mrs Claus mind?

Dear Santa,
Nev has been a bad boy and you should give him one less pressie :P That's a rumour and I don't believe it ;):). He's married and has always been in female relationships. But if it were true, it doesn't matter anyway :).

Back to me now Santa ...
I want a ticket to the Oprah Show at the Opera House,:D and I want Travolta delivered to me wrapped up in pretty pink ribbons. :D Please don't let his wife come along. I also want clear skies just for one day (even!) sometime in December, but if that's too much too ask, I guess I'll choose Travolta .

I am really sorry Tony, but they won't be blaming you. As much. Sorry guys but I bought my xmas present ahead of time and it should be here hopefully round Dec 31 - 1st week in January.

I was depressed, I'm sorry, but a certain wise and aged moderator talked me into it. Just that he happens to live at the other end of Australia and is usually covered in cloud, if not smoke and hoped that it would all be drawn this way, has nothing to do with it.

All I want for Xmas is an AP900GTO mount.

And i got it.

Now I wonder what the dog wants?????? ;)

All I want for Christmas is clear skies and a bucket of mossie repellant...Oh, and 1970's Carl Sagan :thanx:

And while you're at it you may as well throw in a 50 foot observatory so I can see above the trees in my yard and a 12" go-to and imaging rig. Kthx.

I have to agree with Ken, lets turn the sun off. It's been beautifully clear this morning in North Bris.

Failing that, clear skies this coming Monday is all I ask for. Sure I'm getting a RDF tomorrow, but I want to see the geminids, and really, if its clear enough to see those, you could do some viewing in between...

Suzy
09-12-2010, 11:16 AM
Well, apparently only just talking about sacrifices convinced the weather into playing good. Can you believe it, last night, the very same day I received my brand new 10x60 binoculars (okay, so I bought something and just got found out :P) the clouds opened up (after weeks!) for me to try them out, till 1 am even!. :stargaze: So there you have it -It was me everyone - thank me!

Now... so the weather keeps on staying clear, everyone better give me money so I can keep buying stuff  :2thumbs: I'm in urgent need of an XW14mm, I can almost guarantee two clear nights :astron: upon this purchase, trust me ... :D Please send notes, not coins. :screwy:

Repeat after me.. "Oh hail weather Suzy"

And now that I feel good about my new found status, I will freely and openly admit that I.. er... well.. I eat lamb!:ashamed: But only as a sometimes food and providing it magically appears in the supermarket in beautifully arranged packets; to me that is how meat is "made".

P.S. I have to admit that Paul's purchase threat worried me senseless. I pondered the thought of posting him 10 packets of Asprin for an oncoming head ache of his that he didn't know about yet.

Disclaimer: please don't really send me money.

Well I just thought in for a penny in for a pound, Suzy. It was either something small and relatively insignificant or a Cat 5 cyclone creator. And seeing as I haven't been responsible for any of the weather so far, why not help out.

At least I don't think I'm responsible, except for maybe that Vixen R200SS I bought a month or two ago off h0ughy and haven't been able to use yet :P It was third hand at least though. :D

Sorry OT.

What do i want for Xmas? Peace and good will to all. I have enough toys. :)

AdrianF
09-12-2010, 01:05 PM
I have enough toys here as well some haven't even been unpacked yet. New(ish) scope new eyepiece new(ish) telrad my wife bought a new 500D for me to use (she doesn't know that yet).

So please Santa just a few nights of clear....... Is that too much to ask?

That's right, another scope! Your reaction basically mirrors my dad's when I told him :P It's a nice scope, all handmade custom job I got secondhand from Wren (a member here) built by Cris Ellis.

The plan is to sell the 5" and 10" , and be left with the 12" , 8" and 120st and 4.5" newt. That way I've got all possible grounds covered

And when the seeing isn't so good, I've watched this ep do battle and perform where all others fail (and at high mag at 10 at that)l. I get KFC chicken from the super butcher - zinger version
It's not hard to duplicate the batter so I can have $500 worth of KFC for 25 dollars and no fat.
Too easy
I've also bought 400 McBurger Patties for $60 - which means all my fast food is prepared withut recourse to cholesterol pumps and I can feed a family of 2 for $2.50 because I buy chips for $5 for 7.5 kilo. The main cost is for decent veggies

And to cover myself, I wasn't at KFC I was at the shop next door buying a salad... :P The daily temptations I must face. Although now that Adrian has shared his woe's of cockroaches in a 2 piece feed I might try to enjoy my salad's a bit more.

I have aquariums as another hobby - great indoor hobby! :D Adrian, if you need any tips, let me know.:) I've been doing it for the past 10 years. I have a golden rule with putting any additives in the tank: every action has a reaction. And don't get fooled into what could be a very expensive hobby - I came to learn a lot of the stuff is not necessary if you know what you're doing. Just make sure you cycle the tank to develop the all important bacteria for a good month with only a couple of fish to start with, then add fish slowly. The worst thing to do is add lots of fish first up, many will end up dying as the bacteria can't keep up in the early stages. Good luck with your new hobby!

I used to keep fish as a hobby a few years ago started off with guppies and threw in for the excitement a couple of 2" Oscars they outgrew a 2' tank all the way upto a 4' tank was about to order 6' tank but we left Mt ISA to go to the coast so I gave everything away. By the way the Oscars got to 9" long.

fish tanks :eyepop: You want work? You got it. I had 7 x 3 & 4 ft tanks for years. Get yourself a good gravel siphon and a heap of 20 liter buckets. And get yourself a Black Knife Ghost fish. They will feed from your hand and you can train them to lie in your hand and give you an electric buzz (they are related to electric eels) and they are just the sexiest damn fish you'll come across.

Oh and they can get big. Keep them in a tank with only 1 or 2 other big fish, they'll eat anything else. Learnt that lesson the hard way. 400mm one ate 6 congo tetras in a day and a half
