Never tried this before. Good fun and good practice. May as well get it right on myself before shooting others like this. No flash. Used a wide andgle 16-35mm, (I know it's a big no-no), but I think it looks OK.
I found an old cabin on my journey into the mountains tonight.
Might give it a go with the 70-200 next time and see what difference it makes.

Barry, I have to say that I have enjoyed following your recent photographic journey, particularly the macros - I think the portrait works well. The door the man, it's very symbolic - I note that the door is open. I presume that you knocked first?
With the ever diminishing opportunities to spend the extensive time needed for AP, I find macro a very satisfying outlet indeed.

Thanks Nettie!
Rowland, you raise a good point mate. I have noticed a lot of doors in my life of late. Some are being shut (a good thing) and many, many more are being opened. All I have to do is step through!
Exciting times!
Baz.

Lovely shot, Baz. Really nice! My minor nitpick would be the shadows are a bit harsh. Maybe some fill flash might just soften that up a bit. Just a touch of flash.

Thanks Troy. Really? I was actually thinking of going darker for a real striking and strong theme. Especially a close-crop.
I want to do some more experimenting with this so I'll try that mate. Cheers!

Each to his own, of course. I meant to say great pose and composition.

No no...don't get me wrong mate! You always give great advice and I'm going to try it!
Thanks heaps!
Baz.
The picture is great Baz, a very relaxed and outback feel to it.
Just not sure about the piece of grass though.
Cheers

The door's nice, but the guy in it spoils it a bit.
Could you have asked him to move?
:rofl::rolleyes:
