Is their a January imaging challenge yet....or is it's popularity getting to low.
I for one would like to see just 1 for the month that everyone can work on instead 5 or 6 with most not even getting any entries.
Whats your thoughts.

I've found the biggest problem is getting enough clear skies to image what I want to image as well as the Monthly Challenges.
Blame it on the weather
The weather's been yuck......
I can't even remember the colour of my telescope, it's been so long ago...
:windy: :cloudy:

Striker (and others)
I made this post in another thread on the 11th of Jan
"the objects slated are currently :
GX - NGC 1566
OC - NGC 346
GC - NGC 1851
NB - M42/M43
PN - NGC 246
DB - Theta Orionis (the Trap)
We have all been a bit slack in getting organised - except for Rob (xrekcor) who has already done his part. Due to the busy time of year, perhaps we should make these a combined Jan-Feb list. I haven't chatted with the others about this but perhaps there is room to extend the lists to be active for two months. That cuts down on the work for those involved and also gives more opportunity for getting the chance to observe / sketch / and photograph the objects."
Perhaps there is some merit in your suggestion to only concentrate on one of the MOC's for the photography section as it will help everyone compare and hone their techniques in a more focused way. Perhaps the type of object could change from MOC to MOC (ie Nebula this time around, galaxy for the next MOC, etc).

having a beginners, intermediate & advanced (with one object each). That way you can kinda tailor the thing for different levels so that newbs aren't intimidated & there is still some challenge for the experts?
Of course you can still do all 3 if you want/have the time etc.

I think the point is not to make it a competition regarding Beginners to advanced...more so to get people posting the same target image no matter what equipment or experience level so we are all working together on the same image so more can be learned about the target image and processing.
I dont think it would be fair to make different levels plus I think we need to keep it nice and simple as the popularity to the imaging thread has been poor so far.
I like the idea of 1 per month....you can always add to it if it warrants another target for the month.
Thats my personal opinion and it will also save you guys orgainising this a bit of time
One a month would be a lot better, I didn't even manage to Image a single object last month, this way you'll only need one clear night to image.

I totally agree with Striker (us Tonys have to stick together).
The current challenges are very undersubscribed, but the weather has been crap lately. I haven't been able to do any imaging since early November!!!! One a month is a good idea.
Cheers
