I've been scrounging around the hard drive, looking for some unprocessed data and came across this one from the 15th of November. (last month was a shocker, no wonder I'd forgotten I'd imaged this:()
7x5 minutes @ iso 800 using the Canon 550d.
Taken through the ED80
Location.....my reasonably dark back yard.
Stacked in DSS and processed in CS3.

Still a nice image JJJ. I marvel every now and then at how far Australian amateurs have advanced in the last couple of years. There are some fore runners who are leading the way but on the whole each person involved is producing images better than in text books just 20 years ago. Imagine what will take place in the next 10 years? Technology and techniques with internet sharing have radically changed what we do for fun.

It just about fills the field of view Heath. You've got to be careful with the framing otherwise you'll miss out on some good bits. :)

Very nice JJ. I have just read all the comments here and question Pauls remark about last 20 years. The last 5 years has seen jumps in both accessability and equipment which has made astroimaging affordable for almost everyone and the discemination of processing skills has made even bigger leaps forward. It is amazing the improvement the digital age has made to this great hobbie.

Lovely detail in the dustlanes and very nice colour balance. You should be happy with this image.
