Hi All
I dont normally do the moon, but back in september I took a 58 panel panorama using my 12"Lx200 R and a DMK 41 mono camera.
At the time I could not get the thing to stack. I had all sorts of issues with the different programs I tried .
I recently upgraded to a new PC with more processing power and lots more ram, tried again and managed to get it to knit together.

The image is too big to post here its 6500 x 6500. so its the equivelent of a 42mega pixel camera I gues :-)
The resulting tif was 126mb :rofl:which might be too big for most people to even bother.Due to its dimensions its too big to post here.
I have two heavilly jpeg compressed versions on my web site, they still look OK.
The full size image is about 1.2mb

This second link is to a little 2000x2000 200k version

Depending on your browser when you click on link it should simply display the iimage in your browser but might shrink it to fit. However after a few seconds you should get a magnify Icon. Clicking on the image will then display at full res.

Thanks. For the compliments

For something really spectacular, you should have been here after a week of processing and stacking all of the avi's only to find I could not align them properly (many expletives deleted !!!).
Each panel was a 500 Frame Avi File that had to be stacked first before I could assemble the pano. I think I got carried away but I couldnt stop myself :screwy:

Hmmm now maybe I should try one of the sun at that res :D

Nice work Bill. That large image is playing havoc with my ram and I got 4 gig. Wow. Great light and shadow. Well done.

Fantastic! Just like looking threw my scope - very clear.

The large image loaded in about 10secs with mobile broadband and 2gig RAM.

Fantastic work Bill, looks awsome.
You could get a poster printed from that size image.

Thanks alot,
Normally when I do a pano, there are usually some defective panels or missing bits but this time around it worked out well.

In regards to making a poster, I happen to have a friend that has a poster printer. I will haveto drop by and visit him over the hols :-)
I might just happen to have a couple of images on a usb drive :-)

WOW Bill
Why are you selling your scope when you are getting such great results.
Maybe you should keep it.

Hehe I have to get mine done first. But its just the moon there are alot of nice moon pics out there already and its does not change.

Thanks, I find using a mono video camera makes all the diff.

Hey Bob, how things?
Yeah thats going through my mind at the moment too. In reality I rarely use it because of local light polution and too lazy to go out at night. It seems such a wast having such a nice setup sit out in the obs not being used. My interest at the moment is in solar imaging. I really enjoy the ever changing features. I wanted to use the money from the sale to upgrade the solar scope, but recently I have got some excellent results from my existing one so the upgrade is sot so urgent now.
