Hey Again IIS,

I have a kind of silly question that I hope is easy to answer =] I've recently bought a Skywatcher ED80 off Andrews Communications (my first scope) and I am unsure how I can attatch the AMD guide Guide rings (and i think AMD is their brand name) to the ED80. Do i need a special mounting plate to go on top of the ED80 or am I missing something big? The rings attatch via a, I suppose, 'female' dovetail attatchment.

Anyones help is very much appreciated =]
Casey

Casey, unscrew the saddles off the bottom of the guiderings and then screw the guiderings onto the top of the rings holding the ED80. The thread will be the same but you might need to get screws (countersunk) instead of the allen bolts from the guidering saddles. That's why I have that plate on the top of my ED80 Rings. Lets me fit stuff like that or camera mountings.

Why not use your SbS plate? Or are you still waiting for the M2M plate>

Thanks Paul, I'll definately do that. I had a feeling I was missing something lol. Yeah the M2M plate hasn't arrived yet =S. When I called and bought the M2M from Bintel they had just ordered the Losmandy shipment which they said would take 10 days to arrive (not sure if that included shipping time). Hopefully It did include shipping time and I'll have it next Monday. I wanted to try the piggyback method just to see If I could get all my gear set up. Hasn't been a suitable break in the clouds for the past week to set it up outside so today for the first time I set up the whole thing in the shed, minus the rings of course. Might go attempt to attatch the rings right now =]

Thanks again Paul, always great to get answers as detailed as yours.

You already have a SbS plate. You don't need another one. :)
