Congratulations Nico13 (Ken) you're our winner this month and what a lovely shot it was.

Also a big well done to the runner-ups, sheeny (Al), firstlight (Tony), followed closely by ngcles (Les).

A great round once again, thanks everyone for having a go.

I also like the idea of the "John West" thread that Al posted, so perhaps we can incorporate it somehow within the "Comments" thread and name it appropriately so that it's a "Sticky" each month, I'll see how we go.

So Ken what will our theme be this month?

:)

Good shot Ken.

I didn't have enough votes to pick all the ones that tickled my fancy. Congratulations to everyone else who submitted... great to see such a response.

Gee Steve;

I was complete when I put my entry in.

I was also happy with just being involved, and having some fun taking my shots.

I'm only a very raw newbie in this, (so take my opinions with a grain of salt), but I'm also very satisfied with the way its been run.

Cheers & Rgds

Steve, I think you have undervalued your contribution.

I wish I could have had at least 1 maybe 2 more votes (not always the case), as I voted on the innovation and the aesthetics of the entries, yours narrowly missed one of my votes... it was a hard call.

The voting (at least how I vote) is on how I rated the interpertration of the theme. Anne-Louise will tell you that . And I get another insight as she explains her perception, and it is often different than mine. Thats what you get with peoples vote, not judged on technical merit... I like that as it givews me a chance :D.

It's a bit of fun, Steve. It isn't that serious IMO, and if it was I wouldn't participate.:)

As for voting on merit... I think I do. I don't care who's shot it is, I discount those that aren't on topic, then I judge based on aesthetics and technical aspects of each shot (clarity, sharpness, exposure, contrast, composition, colour balance, etc). Some shots have very few shortfalls and other have more, but most comps I can see good points in nearly every shot, and given the comp is for fun, I tend to offer positive comment rather than negative.:)

I'm happy to critique someone's image from my point of view, but I'd prefer to do that personally unless they ask for it publicly... I'm just used to maintaining that level of respect for others, whether its discipline at work, or a harmless photo comp. Its a personal thing unless they ask for public critique. (I'm assuming you are aiming at my comment and maybe others).

I don't agree with a lot of people's choices... so obviously I look for different things;). I'm happy with that.

Take it easy...:)

Thanks everyone.

It's nice to have a win every now and then and this was a pleasant surprise when I just checked my emails.

I will post details of the new challenge early tomorrow as I'm just about to head out to Harry Potters latest escapade.

I will give you all a heads up though so you will have something to think about until tomorrow.

The theme will be "Frozen in time" so think about fast shutter speeds oposite to what we do for our astro picies.
More details tomorrow with a full explanation and a couple of examples.

Thanks again :D

Ken. Off to see Harry Pottoer now.

Hi all,

Well as mentioned in the previous post this months theme is "Frozen in Time"

Now as you will see from my examples below this is a wide category and you may say that every photo is an example of the theme.
Well think outside the box and see what you can come up with, my examples are just a few subjects to choose from so don't be put off by the falling stones shot as you may not have high speed flash sync available.
My little bubble blower and the waterfall are just every day type shots that you may allready have on file.

So take a new shot or show us an older shot, freeze something, now that might be interesting. ;)

Go for it, let the imagination run wild. :D

Regards

Nico (Ken)
