The skies have finally cleared in my part of the world so it was time that I gave the QHY 9 that I bought in July a try. I picked a nice easy target to start with. This is a very quick process and I know that there are some issues including the blue halos. I will have more of a go at processing this in 2 weeks when I have a bit more time. I am very happy with the star colours.

The image was taken with the equipment in my signature. I aligned and stacked the RGB data in CCD stack and also aligned the RGB data with the lum data and saved them separately. I then had a quick play in PS doing curves and levels before a little selective unsharpening. Data as follows:

Lum 8 x 300secs binned 1x1 (I had to throw away 2 due to guiding errors)
RGB 7 x 180secs binned 2x2 in each channel

I like it, Rob. I think that's most nebula I've seen in an M45 shot.

Stars are beautifully crisp and clean, it gives it nice depth with the nebulosity.

Lots of detail there, well done on a great image! What was the brand of the RGB filters used?

Looks really good Rob. Only thing it looks a bit flat in the contrast.
A bit more work in the processing would make this image even better.
Have attached a very quick contrast enhancement of your shot..
Hope you don`t mind....
cheers Gary:thumbsup:

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I am using the QHY filters that came with the camera and filter wheel. I was pleasantly surprised that there are no reflections around the brighter stars.

That is a very nice image Rob revealing a lot of this faint nebula. Thanks for the view.

Very nice Rob. The QHY has done you well on this image with lots of nebulosity and dust.

Well done.

Stunning - like someone's been doing burnouts up there

I am having a bit of a play today and revisited this as promised. I prefer this version. The nebula is not quite as bright but the colours are better and the stars a bit tighter. Thanks for looking.

Now for that M33 image that keeps on beating me!!!
