Reprocessed NGC2070

Hi guy's,no new shots to work on so I thought I'd have a go at reprocessing a 10 minute guided shot I took at Kulnura about 6 months ago . With what I have
learnt since then (don't clip Histogram) the results are more pleasing than my first atempt at It . If only I had better focus on the night I would of had a
sharper detail but hey live and learn ! (sometimes) :lol: also have another little
hint for us noobies ( to bring out fainter detail use curves for stretching white point instead of levels but first set your black point in Levels ) the down side is that you wont have as much contrast by using curves to early so find a good balance you like most . ( This is from the Ron Wodaski Bible )

It's come up beautifully Louie.
You've done a great job on this one.
I had a go, as you know, and didn't manage to get out what you did on this one.
Great advice about using curves. I do that now and it works a treat.
I've also started to play with the Hue/Saturation settings too.

Thanks John I'm glad you like It mate and thank you too Andrew . Yes and that's good advice on the Hue/Saturation settings as well Andrew . After 7 or 8 months with this camera of mine I am still battling with getting a good focus . I really need to get on top of It or I'll be just wasting a lot of time . I bought a STi for It a few months back thats suppose to be callibrated for the SXV-H9C but I havent been able to get It to work the way Its suppose to :sad:

It seems like we are both at the same stage of understanding the mysteries of PS , I have been using a Jerry Lodrigis tutorial which is helping but I think I need PS for thickies.
With your focus problem , can you use the software to focus with either brightest pixcel or FWHM and then check the STi against that , sounds like its out of calibration.

PS for thickies :lol: Hey Zane your a funny guy when your been drinking !
It's one of those programs that's easier when someone can show you !
The SXV-software doesn't have " FWHM " but It's something I want to have a look at . I do have Astro Art 3 but It frames on my LapTop when trying to shoot
with It .

I like the wide angle, Louie, gives a good view of some of the LMC.

Thanks Rod , It's an incredibly rich area of the sky . Andrew ( Hector) must of spent an enormous amount of time to investigate the LMC for his excellent review of the area !

I have the SXV H9 and to focus i use a Hartman focuser or also called a Kwik focuser.
Works very very well, stars are round and small, and all is sharp.
Try it, only takes a bout 1 or 2 minutes to focus.
You can make one from carboard or a Pot plant tray like i did for my 14". Only cost me 4 buks.

Thanks Gama , I did with a home made one but still wasnt happy with results .
I'll try again though with a better built one !
