I've been thinking about how to best use my 1000th post, which seems a post of some moment.
Clearly the best way is to thank everyone on this forum for the wonderful community that IIS is.
Just about everything I have discovered in 4 years of obsession with astronomy has been supported in some way by IIS. From finding out what equipment to buy, to buying the equipment (most of my gear is from IceTrade) to learning how to observe, the benefits of writing reports and doing sketches, to appreciating the amazing images that people make available on this site. And especially going to some wonderful star camps that I've found through IIS - Border Stargaze, VicSouth and above all Snake Valley. I have met some great people and made I hope some friends for life.
I've found it interesting to note the changes in the sub-fora that I visit most - from Beginners to equipment and now Observational Astronomy. A special thanks to the very supportive folk that post in this section.
What a great community.
And thanks to Mike and Terry of course for setting this up and keeping it going as the great forum that it is.
