All,
Bit of a throw-away image, really. An uninspiring sunrise and I just didn't like the setting (I was hoping to have a view free of man-made structures). I'd never been to the top of Mount Iron before so I didn't know what to expect. First time for everything, I suppose.
I left at twilight to make the trek up the mountain in time for sunrise.
Still, nothing rivals the light at that time of day to provide for painterly images.

Thanks for looking.

If there's any man-made structures in that shot, you certainly don't notice them over the scenery.
You know those photos that sometimes get emailed around with a guy holding up a fish on a fishing boat and a hot, topless girl or something next to him, and the caption is along the lines "If you look really carefully at this shot, there's a guy holding a fish". That's what this is like. You just don't notice it. You took the shot, so you know it's there and are more conscious of it than what most will notice. Certainly doesn't detract.

Troy,
Oh, there's none in this shot. Just, where I really wanted to set up, overlooked farmland and houses and roads and trucks and tractors. It was really upsetting! But, as a sacrifice for capturing none of the man-made stuff, I've had to settle for a less than memorable composition with a few things getting in the way. I would have been better off being lakeside and just capturing the mountains. It was worth it, though, even if just for the exercise, lol.
Chris,
lol, no, not kidding. It's far from my best. I would love to go back there again and capture another sunrise, perhaps a little more low down. I do love the little red highlights in the foliage to the bottom right, they're just gorgeous.
Shane,
Thanks, mate, appreciate it!
Thank you, gents!

Jeanette,
Glad you liked it. It's slowly growing on me. : )
Chris,
Yep, it's Mount Iron, overlooking Lake Wanaka on the South Island. One of the most picturesque places in the world. I've only ever been there in autumn -- the colours are just spectacular. I would imagine spring would be beautiful, too.
Alex,
Thanks, sir.
Cheers, all.
