For users of DSLRemote who have been using it on iPhone, this (depending on the camera model) has been a pretty neat app. It gives you the ability to remotely control your DSLR via WiFi and a Windows-based laptop connected to the camera via USB running the server application. Given that I normally run a laptop on-mount anyway to control guiding operations, this scenario works well.

Now the iPad version is imminent. Bigger display, live view, video mode, burst mode, auto bracketing, intervalometer...it's all there now.

I can't wait for this edition.

Ditto, the app was fantastic on the ipod, just a little short on intervalometer and maximum exposure functions, if they fix those problems it will be a must have. If I'm not mistaken, DSLR remote and the other apps related to astronomy will also work on the Ipod touch, a relatively inexpensive way to utilise these fantastic tools although the GPS and accelerometer capabilities would be non existent.

The limitation I found was the inability to automatically time long exposures other than those provided by the Canon software.

From memory, I couldn't get anything over 30 seconds without going to Bulb mode and watching the on screen timer then manually closing the shutter at the appropriate time.

Intervalometer simply replicated the EOS utility options and I couldn't get any longer than 30 second exposures using the intervalometer.

Am I right in assuming that the same limitation is still going to be there in the iPad version, surely they can write something within the app to do multiple exposures using the Bulb setting on the camera?

Now delayed until December "sometime". I suspect that iOS 4.2 might not have been on their radar.
