Hello everyone,
I havn't been taking new data for a while now, so decided to revisit the M42 data I took christmas last year. Hope you like it.
Here it is

I wanted to go for a more natural look this time. The image is made of ~8hrs of 10min ISO200 subs taken with a FLT132 and unmodded Canon 400D.
And here is the original edit I made earlier this year

Cheers and thanks for looking

Definitely a more natural appearance, soft and suttle
Wow that is nice and easy on the eyes, The trap is clearly visible and the whole picture is very smooth

I like'em both for different reasons.
I like the colour vibrancy of the first and the soft colourful glow across the image while the second is smooth and has a nice dark sky...I recomend you try blending the main nebulous areas of the first into the second (I had a play in PS and I recon it looks good )
Nice job allround though George

Thanks guys! Going back to old data is always fun :)
I think for my original I wanted to bring out the dust in the background, and in doing so I went overboard with the stretching. I didn't realise how noisy it was until a second look some time later.
Thanks Mike! Thats an interesting idea that I didn't think of! I think the colour from the original was also contributed by 10hrs of OIII data that I didn't include in this copy. I will have a go and blending that in and see what I get. The OIII was taken at lower resolution on an ED80, hence was left out this time. But we'll see how it goes.
Cheers, and thanks again
