Hey all, trying to piggyback an ed80 at the moment on a sct.
The sct has a D style 80mm dovetail bar, and the ed80 has a losmandy 'va' style saddle. I read losmandy and losmandy and went 'sweet, this should be easy'. Fool me, 'va' of course stands for vixen!

So the question is, do I get an adapter, (for a good $200, and I'm not even sure if one will do or I will need two...) or do I buy new guiderings for the ed80? (about the same price).

Trying to keep flexure down of course.
Cheers for any advice!

Try http://admaccessories.com/default.htm and click on Losmandy and Vixen in the left side menu as they may have what you want. Send them an e-mail to confirm.

I bought one of the ADM saddle plates that takes a D or a V dovetail - and it is very good. Nice and solid - actually seems more secure than the Losmandy saddle plate that came with my G11. The ADM ones have two clamps which holds the smaller bars better.

EDIT - sorry - just read you are piggybacking. In that case, I assume that the SCT has a D dovetail on the bottom, and the ED80 has a V dovetail on the bottom? You will need something on top of the SCT. The most solid way to do it is another upside down D dovetail with the ED80 rings attached to some D dovetail adapters that then clamp them to this upside down plate.

I use a Losmandy dovetail to mount the C11 onto my NEQ6pro.
I've also fitted an ADM minirail to the top of the OTA.
With a couple of the ADM clamp blocks you can mount the ED80 rings to this minirail.
(The ADM is also usefull for holding other stuff - spectroscopy brackets, piggyback brackets, 135mm telelens +QHY5 as an electronic finder etc etc)
