I'm having a go at trying to process the first images I taken on my DMK21. I took them on a computer running Vista and trying to process them on a computer running XP would this make any difference? I've never used registax before. When trying to select the captured file for Registax it's coming up with a message "Failed to start AVI decompression, codec: dvsdvids." :help:

Sounds like you may have used a poor Codex.
I use the Y800 for the DMK.
If you want to convert the AVI file you have, it is possible but I can't remember which software is recommended; I'm sure someone will avise you.....

Download a copy of Virtual Dub http://www.virtualdub.org/
Open your .avi and then go to File and click on ... Save Old Format AVI
It will convert this original into one that Registax can read.
Hope this helps.

Thanks jjjnettie, I googled the problem earlier this arvo and got a head start with the virtualdub site. It let me select the captured file (which I did originally capture with the Y800 codec). Thanks for your response it confirmed I was heading down the right track.

What I'm not sure about is if processing it through virtualdub affects the quality of the original images.

Here's a link to my first attempt at imaging with the DMK21 and processing through registax.
