Does anyone know what the three moons of Jupiter that are visible tonight (12.11.10) from 33.5S 151.5E? It [Jupiter & its moons] looks spectacular, you can really see the big orange ring and three moons on the eastern side (earth perspective), they are truly beautiful - even through my Meade 102mm refletor with televue 8mm Plossl.

Frank. Io, Calisto and Europa are on one side. Ganymede is on the other. Do a search on the net for Jupiter 2 free software its brilliant. Also Stellarium which I used to answer your question is also free and beyond brilliant. You'll love it.

I use the Astronomy 2010 book - don't have to have a computer near the scope to track moon events. It's a very useful book for lots of obs. Looking forward to Astronomy 2011
