heyy folks, i was browsing ASTROSHOP before going to school and found this guiding system, it looks like a good guider with all the bits and bobs and no need for a pc... i was just wandering if the guider would work with a moddified Hand controller (ST4 Port addition) on HEQ5 (non Pro)

Hi Tony - it should work. If the modification you did is a standard ST4 guide port, I can't see why not. Give Steve Massey at AstroShop a call - I am sure he will have a good idea whether it would be suitable...

If you want to try something similar Tony, next time you're up you can try my TV Guider. It was the one that set the ball rolling. Its a great to use once you get the hang of it. Set and forget

a QHY5 + PHD is very handy for polar alignment also.

The main thing with the stand alone setup is you don't need your laptop or AC power. If you are going to have AC and a Laptop with you then the QHY (or similar) is the way to go. If you are using a DMK then you will need a GPUSB unless you are using something like EQMod
