Went to see the first gig in Sydney last night. We were on the side right up. Terrific view on the stage. The show was great with some pretty cool laser graphics and animated coffins dropping from the ceiling, big flames, pyro, the works. I have to admit though that the sound was absolute s||thouse. Even the stuff I knew I could not make up much. Maybe I'm getting too old or death or both. My boy loved it though. Maiden in the same arena was way better sound wise. Maybe has to do with the stage being in the center and the sound bounces some how. Will post picies later.

Hi Marc
How have you been?
I remember discussing this show with you at SPSP all those new moons ago.
I went last night (Thursday) and it is an amazing show. I think the problem with your audio may have been where you were sitted, or some lessons learnt. Last night it was fantastic my only complaint would have been that the vocals were drowned out a bit by the music. I have a feeling that James may have a cold or throat infection as he didn't sound his usual self and sounded a bit croaky. My ears are ringing and my throat is sore so it must have been a great night!
What did you think of Lamb of God? OMG what a riot they are, death metal at their deadliest :eyepop:.
All the best mate and please keep churning out your beautiful images. I'm a bit over the hobby at the moment, the weather and daylight saving has zapped my enthusiasm completely.

Hey Wayne, blast from the past. Hope you get the imaging bug soon again. :) Well you might be right. By the sound of it you heard a totally different gig. On the upper course we were drown in drums, bass and voice so I heard Hetfield plenty but we couldn't make up any of the high pitch sound like melody or solos. Was a real killer
Yeah Lamb of god frontman was very entertaining. Did you get spat on? We were too high up. :P

LOL Marc - didn't get spat on by the Lamb of God "singer", but plenty of security gaurds did and got complimentary sweaty showers courtesy of the bucket loads of water he kept pouring on his long and out of control hair.
We weren't in the mosh pit but we were in the first seated section 9 or 10 rows from the front.
I might break out the Ha filter tonight and see what I can get from home assuming this tender Sydney weather does the right thing.
All the best and I hope to see you soon Marc.

Hehe... yeah I bet they did. They sound a lot like the early exodus stuff. I liked them a lot too.

While I care little for Metallica, I am a fan of Lamb of God; I hear a bit of a few different older bands in thier sound, which is probably why I like them.
How long did they get in the support slot?

Lucky boys, I missed out on 'em this time around but did see them at the Sydney Entertainment Centre on their last tour here in 2004. Awesome night, I still have very fond memories (Blackened went off!!)
Couldn't resist posting this pic I just snapped, my first tat from way back in 2003 when I was 17 :D ignore the name, it's an unrelated tat

I'd say about an hour. They made a good impact and warmed up the room for sure.
