just looking to by a high powerd ep, for about $100 or under. i have a 8'' skywatcher goto dob 1200mm f/6. im after an ep i can use alot or most of the time, not just when theres perfect seeing, so what type of power? 4mm 300x would i need excellant seeing for 300x(would i use it much or would the seeing never really be good enough?) or should i go more 6mm 200x?

I would be coming down even further in the 12mm-18mm range and then if needed grab a decent x2 barlow to give you a 6mm-9mm.
High powers tend to be more for planet/moon viewing when the seeing does need to be steady.

Ben,
in an 1200mm f6 dob you really don't want to go any faster than a 9mm EP.
At a stretch and with extremely fantastic seeing you may be able to use a 7mm but those times come once a decade.
A good range is 9mm, 12mm, 25mm and a 30mm.
The 30mm preferably in 2"

OK, if you want to go fairly close up for Planetary try a 9mm with good quality Barlow or Powermate
